As you may remember, our chapter has held an annual sewing retreat in past years. Unfortunately, the cost to rent event space has increased and it is cost-prohibitive for the chapter to offer that fun event now. Did you know that KC Maker Studio, a local fabric shop with quilting and fashion fabric, offers a monthly sewing retreat opportunity? Several members of our chapter have attended KC Maker Studio retreat events and the Chapter Advisory Board (CAB) thought it would be a great opportunity for our members to get together while keeping costs down. Members of the CAB will be attending the April 26-28 retreat weekend. It will be a great chance to catch up with AGS friends, please join us.
From the KC Maker Studio website:

Various festivals throughout the year highlighting clothing and traditions of different cultures. The traditional clothing and related items may be just the inspiration you need for your next project.
Come learn about our felting tool, the FeltLoom! We'll use the machine's bank of barbed needles to felt together a piece of art that you can then embellish, free form stitch, embroider, bead, and more! Every participant will take home a unique piece of art and learn about a new tool we are experimenting with in an attempt to continue to reduce textile waste in Kansas City.
