Calling all garment sewists! We are starting a new neighborhood group with a focus on garment sewing. All levels are encouraged to attend – from beginner to expert. Our mission is to hear what you want to learn as well as what you are an expert in…match the two up and come up with some great programs!
Join us at our first meeting: When: Thursday, April 4th, 6:30pm Where: Updated! Johnson County Library Antioch Branch – Large meeting room Address: 8700 Shawnee Mission Parkway, Mission, KS 66202 For the first meeting we plan to do a program on seam finishes and then spend time with a survey of what you want and what you can offer…along with some brainstorming on future events. We will have show and tell at each meeting so bring or wear a garment you’ve recently made. We’re hoping everyone will share their knowledge with the group, but if presenting a program doesn’t interest you we hope you will join us and hear what others have to share. We plan to meet on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30pm on an ongoing basis – but are open to feedback. We hope to see you there! If you can’t make it and want to be included on future communications, please email us at kcasggarmentgroup<at>gmail<dot>com. You can also find us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/kcasggarmentgroup/ Finally – we aren’t sure how many people to expect….so if you can make it to the first meeting, please drop us a line so we can make sure we have a big enough room! The KC-ASG CAB and NG group leaders had a great time this past Saturday at the Leadership Appreciation Tea. Group Leaders not in attendance, please contact the NG Coordinator, Karin, to inquire about information you missed. We discussed lots of great community service opportunities for the year and look forward to starting our new junior neighborhood group soon. Be sure to watch the website, Facebook page, and newsletter* for events.
Remember to sign up for upcoming events early to reserve your spot and early bird pricing. See you soon! *All members of the Kansas City Chapter should be receiving a copy of our newsletter in electronic form (or printed copy by request). If you are not receiving yours, please contact the newsletter editor via the Contact Us tab or directly at [email protected]. You may also view our current newsletter as well as other ASG chapter newsletters via the members sign in area on the ASG National website. President: Mary Spence*

Magazine subscriptions and renewals are sent directly to the individual. Books, DVDs, and other items are mailed to a single address (usually the education chair or president’s home address) for member pickup. Checks are to be made payable to ASG, are deposited into the ASG chapter account*, and then the chapter treasurer will write one check for all items ordered directly to Taunton Press. *Orders are subject to ASG interchapter transfers to meet minimum order requirements (10 magazine subscriptions and/or 10 product orders). Be advised there could be a delay in shipment for this reason. It has come to my attention that there are questions regarding the new ASG junior membership and the qualifications, limitations, and expectations. If you have any concerns about the new ASG junior membership level and/or the TAG program, I request that you first read the entire article in the latest KC chapter newsletter, Stitch ‘N Times, as well as the article from Ramona Baird, the ASG Education Director, in the current fall issue of Notions magazine on page 2. If you still have questions, I will try to answer them to the best of my knowledge or find out, as chapters nationwide await updated materials and documentation on this great new membership level that ASG National Headquarters has developed for us and our youth. This topic will also be addressed at the chapter annual meeting, November 10, 2012, at Roeland Park Community Center (see below for post regarding the annual meeting and to download the registration form).
