Greetings From the President

1/19/2016

Greetings!

The new year brings some changes to the Kansas City Chapter. Mary Spence has finished her term as chapter president. We offer our deepest thanks to Mary, a wonderful chapter president, who provided inspirational  leadership to the chapter. Also we thank Mary Meyer,  Publicity and Cathie Santa, Neighborhood Coordinator who are taking a break from the chapter advisory board

I am very excited that you have given me the opportunity to serve as the chapter president. For the past three years I have served as the newsletter editor. I joined the ASG in 2003 while living in Omaha. I was elected to the Chapter Advisory Board (CAB) and served as the newsletter editor and then Chapter President.

I remember reading the award winning Kansas City Chapter newsletter. I was always intrigued by the variety of educational events and neighborhood and special interest groups. After relocating to the Kansas City area four years ago I knew that getting involved with the sewing guild would be a great way to meet people who also love sewing, quilting and fiber arts, which, to me, is one of the primary benefits of belonging to the guild.

We are very fortunate that Betsy Blodgett has agreed to be the editor of the newsletter. Betsy brings her own fresh style as well as extensive experience in the sewing and fashion industry.

There are some things that won’t be changing. For one, Karin Kraft Stuppy has lined up some great events for this year. The chapter will be hosting Kenneth King for our spring educational event, April 15th through April 17th. See all the details on pages 3 and 4 of this newsletter. You will not want to miss learning with one of the premiere sewing educators. Sign up
on the chapter website.

Another thing that won’t be changing is that your CAB and neighborhood group leaders will be working to bring you entertaining and informative events and activities at a great value all year long. Suggestions or requests about what you would like to see are always welcome. I look forward to seeing you at the coming events or neighborhood group meeting!
Robin Pruitt
Kansas City ASG President
